  1. Agreement signed 4 Apr 1949 by Belgium,
  2. Canada, Denmark, France, Iceland, Italy,
  3. Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway,
  4. Portugal, the UK, the USA; Greece, Turkey
  5. 1952; West Germany 1955; and Spain 1982. They
  6. agreed that `an armed attack against one or
  7. more of them in Europe or North America shall
  8. be considered an attack against them all'.
  9. The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO)
  10. is based on this agreement.
